My impressions ...

Week 1

Bonjour 4/5S and Mr Day!

I am at my Grandma’s place, but it took a long time to get here. Here’s how. First I had to catch a plane from Brisbane to Singapore then a plane from Singapore to London then one more plane from London to Paris and on that plane we had to sit in it for half an hour because there was a strike in Paris. The plane trip took only one hour anyway. Then we had to catch a train (it wasn’t very comfy) but the next train was really good because my Mum and Dad paid for first class, that train was long. After that my uncle, Parrain Philippe and my cousin, Clemence came to pick up our luggage but they couldn’t fit us in as well because the car was too small. So, my Dad actually met some of the train men on the train and they arranged a train for us. Some other people were on it to though. Then my uncle came back and picked us up and brought us to my Grandma’s place. When I go to the house I went straight to bed. By the way this all took 35 hours. This morning I went strawberry picking in my grandma’s garden. She’s also got apples, raspberries and nuts. She also had a cherry tree but the birds ate them and she’s got a cat named misty. A few minutes ago we went for a walk and my Dad showed us a lot of short cuts. We also saw where his Grandma lived and that was where he was born too. I think I’m going to have lots of fun in France.

Week 2 part 1

Hello Mr Day & 4/5S

Since I last wrote I have done lots of things. First I want to tell you something really weird. In France the sun does not go down at 5.00 o’clock. The sun goes down at 11.00 at night. But it isn’t hard to get to sleep because we have shutters on our windows. A few days ago I went to a cemetery which had over 2000 graves of Australian soldiers who have died. A big building was built after World War 1 as a memorial. It had gun shots all over it from World War 2.

I’ve spent a lot of time with my cousin, Clemence. They live near a forest because my Uncle is a Forest Ranger. They have lots of animals; they’ve got 17 baby rabbits, a dog named Stella, a cat named Capoucine, a goat, baby swallows and some roosters and hens. On Sunday I went to her first communion which was at a very, very old church. After, they had big party in a tent in their back yard. We stayed until 8.00pm.

Every morning before breakfast my Dad and I go to the Boulengerie (bread shop) to get croissants and a baguette for our breakfast.  We don’t have cereal here, but there is really really good cheese.

Week 2 part 2

Good Morning Mr Day and 4/5 S

I am in Queensland no, I’m in England (the Queen’s land!). Most people go on a plane to England but I did it a different way. I got three trains. The first place we stopped was Amiens which is a big city in France. The second stop was Boulogne and the last stop was Calais. Then we got a car ferry which I thought was a really really big ship. I thought it was just going to be rows of seats but instead it was sort of like a big lounge with games and a supermarket, coffee bar and more shops. As we were getting closer we could see the white cliffs of Dover! The white cliffs are made out of chalk, that’s why they are white. We did catch a bus but it was a very short trip. Mainly we caught a train to London. When we arrived in London, we were supposed to catch a taxi from the station but we couldn’t find one so with all of our luggage and asking for directions we walked to our unit which was 500m away which isn’t very long.

Well, finally we got to our unit which is very comfy. Not in our unit but in another building we can use an inside pool .My Mum, Dad and I all sleep in the same room. It’s hard getting to sleep because there are police cars and ambulances going past with sirens. Because we are in London (England) everything is expensive. It’s always double. For example, if something cost £2 in our money it would cost $4, so we brought five dinners over with us plus snacks and stuff.

A few days ago, we went to see the horse guards in Whitehall and Buckingham palace. Yesterday, I went to the science Museum. We went to the IMAX theatre and everything is in three D. We also went to the Natural History Museum it was very interesting. We mostly stayed in the Human Body section. We went to the tower of London a while ago. But we had to do a guided tour and I was getting bored, so we went to the crown jewels. You might think it’s just the “crown jewels” but we got to see the Queens Mothers crown and lots more. We also saw the time when the queen got crowned when she was just 25! And now she is 80! Then we went to the white tower which is connected to the tower of London. We saw the king’s bedroom.  It was tiny! Smaller than my bedroom .It’s really fun in London!
